23-25 February 2024, I would die for anything hosted Danish artist Oscar Juul-Sørensen's debut Berlin solo exhibition, All Is Wet.
All is wet. The artist is a faucet, soaked from his pores to the floor. Sweating. Bleeding. Crying. Pissing. All is sloshing and swirling and swilling. Vessels are full to the brim and cups runneth over. He’s drinking while the walls are held with the desperation that keeps a sinking body afloat. Flushed flesh pours hysteria over lethargy and mania. Fingers and palms grasp bristles and canvas. Ageing tissue and tendons fuse movement with feeling.
You cannot contain and you cannot hold. This is not the best or the worst or any of your concern. Pity has no power when there’s no shake in the surrender. Watch as oil sits on canvas just like before as expectation perches awkwardly next to delusion and optimism at the funeral of the future.
They are not the first or the last or a conscious body. They are what was necessary then, and now they are yours they are no longer his.
The artist collaborated with Carhartt WIP’s German team to produce a limited edition run of 100 T-shirts, featuring two unique designs by Juul-Sørensen.
The shirts were sold during and after the exhibition and funds raised were used to support the artist and the collective. Huge thanks to Carhartt WIP for their support.
